missing bella.

Our yellow lab, Bella, is so special and will always have a place in my heart. One week ago we had to put her down, and let me tell you, it's been hard! The boys are still too young to understand, but my husband and I miss her dearly. I have never experienced such sadness. In my mind, and in my heart, Bella was NOT just a dog. I have never met an animal where I truly believed they had a soul. And let me tell you, Bella has a soul. This was such a difficult decision for us that our vet actually came to our house to have her put down. Bella hated going to the vet and we just couldn't do that drive. We wanted her in our home and in our arms. While I don't regret this decision, it was very difficult to witness her passing. Maybe if we had more time to prepare we would have handled the news better, but we took her in on a Friday because she was limping and the vet wanted to put her down that day. Her bones were completely infected with cancer and were so brittle they could break at any moment. We were not ready to put her down that day. We brought her home to spend three more days with this amazing creature. We had to be so careful because she was so fragile but I enjoyed the cuddle time we had together. During the weekend I watched movies at night on the living room room floor curled up with Bella and I painted a canvas that hangs in our office which reminded me of Bella. In fact, I hadn't picked up a paintbrush in probably two years, but I felt this time was appropriate. On Monday Jon took off work and the boys went to my parents for the night. The vet came over late in the afternoon. Jon and I embraced each other for most of the day, went to a late dinner, drank wine and cried.

here comes the sun....

It has been a lovely week of sunshine, laughter and play. I am so thrilled that we actually had sunshine all week long here in Canton, Ohio. Yellow is one of my favorite colors because it reminds me of spring and the colors that slowly creep from the brown wintered earth. It also reminds me of my beautiful yellow lab, Bella.

Here are a few etsy finds that remind me of spring and would get anyone into a colorful mood!

spring and all

Spring And All
by William Carlos Williams

By the road to the contagious hospital
under the surge of the blue
mottled clouds driven from the
northeast—a cold wind. Beyond, the
waste of broad, muddy fields
brown with dried weeds, standing and fallen
patches of standing water
the scattering of tall trees
All along the road the reddish
purplish, forked, upstanding, twiggy
stuff of bushes and small trees
with dead, brown leaves under them
leafless vines—
Lifeless in appearance, sluggish
dazed spring approaches—
They enter the new world naked,
cold, uncertain of all
save that they enter. All about them
the cold, familiar wind—
Now the grass, tomorrow
the stiff curl of wildcarrot leaf
One by one objects are defined—
It quickens: clarity, outline of leaf
But now the stark dignity of
entrance—Still, the profound change
has come upon them: rooted they
grip down and begin to awaken

cupcake craze...

OK, so recently I have been a little crazy about cupcakes! Yesterday, it was vanilla with butter cream frosting. Today, it's carrot cake cupcakes and tomorrow (yes, tomorrow) it's toasted coconut cupcakes with coffee butter cream frosting. Thank goodness I'm running my long run tomorrow!!
After this cupcake crisis I better move onto a veggie frenzy.
I found the B E S T cupcake cookbook ever. I am absolutely in love with Vegan Cupcakes Take over the World. You have to check out these women's website www.theppk.com. Oops...I guess I should have told you that these are vegan cupcakes! Although I am not a vegan, I do not eat dairy. In fact, it has been 21 months since I have had dairy. I have never felt healthier. By not eating dairy I am forced to watch what I eat because I need to make sure I get that calcium. I cook very healthy and don't indulge as much.
Except for this weekend!

and the winner is.......

Thank you to everyone who participated in my "Post Valentine's Day Giveaway." The lucky winner of my very first giveaway is.......Cory from Aquarian Bath! Congrats Cory.

I had so much fun doing this I have decided to post a giveaway each month! Keep your eyes open for my next listing. I will probably post this at the end of this week.

I have several new pieces that I have been working on and am so excited to get them on my site. Today I'll be taking pictures and hopefully listing a couple items...we'll see what the day brings. With two little boys you never know! In fact, this is the second time I've typed this post. The first was lost to a two year olds curious fingers pushing on and off buttons on the computer. I love the craziness of my life!!!
