HelIo, my name is Elisabeth and I am the creator behind Barnacle Bags. Barnacle bags are handmade canvas backpacks and totes. All made right from my home with my lovely Consew sewing machine! I mostly use all organic and recycled fabrics. The process of creating fabric is so inefficient and hard on the earth that I try and use the most sustainable fabrics I can find. I taught myself how to sew a few years back when I was living in the city. I was inspired to make a backpack to carry my groceries in cause I was sick of carrying a large paper bag that weighed down one side of my body. So that is how the first bag was made. And from then on I have fallen in love with sewing and creating bags! The first year of selling my bags I did it once a week at the Farmers Market and then came across Etsy. I am new to Etsy and the online world of selling but already have been so inspired by so many talented people out there and loving peoples ideas for their custom orders.
