Simple Outfits for Everyday Style

As a mom of three I need to turn to simple outfits that can be pieced together. I love a simple skirt, button down and easy accessories. I'm longing for warmer days when I don't have to bundle up with winter coats and knee high boots (they were fun at first). At the first sign of spring it's light shirts and short skirts....now I just have to wait for the snow to melt!

a bit about me...

I would like to welcome all my new readers! Thank you for joining me on this blogging adventure. I love hearing from you and enjoy each comment, email, twitter and facebook message. I thought this would be a great time to start sharing more about me and the person behind this little blog.

I am a woman of many many trades, but motherhood seems to come most naturally.

I could drink a vanilla soy latte everyday, preferabbly from Muggswigz.

I am a runner. Not only does it keep me in shape, but this is my time to get out of the house, think, clear my head and listen to my music.

What do I listen to you ask? Why, Phish of course. Phish is by far my favorite musical band. I have seen them numerous times in concert, from the east coast Vermont to Palm Springs, California.

I collect vintage cameras.

Photography has always interested me, but now it is more of a passion. I'm not that great, but I enjoy it. I love to photograph my travels and people, especially my children.

I am always reading a book. I just started "The Girl Who Fell From the Sky." I was an English Major in College and have always had an interest in the written word.

I value honesty, but most of all, I think people should be honest with themselves.

I once set off the alarm in the Louvre. Seriously! I peered over the ropes to look in a mirror (what's wrong with me??) and the alarm went off and guards came a running..... need I say more?

Office Makeover

My office is in need of a serious makeover. Oh, and the paper! Stacks here and stacks there....stacks everywhere. My hubbie and I share the office space so we have a mess of work papers, tax papers, school papers and kids drawings. I love all of these home offices. Tonight I will be staying up late working on my special work space.
Hopefully I will have some nice pictures to share.....
I love the clean space and the arrangement of the frames.

A touch of color will brighten any day.
It's Great to Be Home

Well, I'm off to clean, file and assemble a desk.

Wish me luck!

Elizabeth Taylor { leaving behind memories }

One of Hollywood's greatest stars passed away today at the age of 79. I will never forget the numerous nights spent at my grandma’s house burrowed under the covers listening to stories about Elizabeth Taylor and her captivating life. Night after night I attentively listened to tales about Velvet and her passion for horses and the back injury that would haunt Elizabeth for life. I listened to the deep love stories that consumed her days and the unforgettable performances in prestige films such as "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof", “Giant," and "Cleopatra."
Elizabeth, you will be missed but your memories will live on for the world to see.
Thank you grandma for sharing these stories.

A touch of Emerald with a hint of Lime

This past week was SO busy that I decided to take a couple days off from posting. I must say, I am glad to be back. I find that typing away and my random chatter about life soothes me after a long day. With spring right around the corner (and St. Patti's Day) I've had my eye on green.
Enjoy these lovely finds.

I don't know if anyone has noticed, but according to my blog I have been reading Little Bee for five months. I wanted to give a little book update. Although I am not the fastest reader, I am not that slow.... so here is a list of books I have read since October:

Margaret Atwood The Handmaid's Tale
{ As a little side note, Margaret one of my favorite authors }

Jeannette Walls The Glass Castle

Elizabeth Kostova The Swan Thieves

Chitra Divakaruni One Amazing Thing

I recommend all of these lovely books.
Enjoy your reading!

Do your kids do this....

So, every once in awhile I like to frequent Starbucks...ok ok everyday I go to Starbucks (sorry honey). Yesterday my best friend Julie and I took the kids to hang out and catch up. Now, I know my kids are creative but I love the fact that they create wherever they go. Ten tall straws and six cardboard sleeves later my boys turned this visit into a galaxy...far far away. I love the creativity of my little Jedi masters. They are currently on their Star Wars obsession because they watched it for the first time last week. Jonas skywalker

I would also like to note that yes, people did in fact stare. And the lady working next to us on her laptop may have gotten up and moved.

JEDI JOSH

And the boys were maybe a little too loud.

LIZ AND JESS

So Jessica and I sat in the corner and pretended we didn't know these loud little Jedi boys.

BUT, I will note that the nice lady working at Starbucks also loved their creativity and said why buy toys when you can make something out of straws and cardboard? I took that as an okay to load up on these crafty items before leaving. I mean, my drink was $5.25...so the straws are free. Right?

Longing for Summer....

This little video from Free People makes me long for summer.

Where the warm sun shines down on us
as we float and dance across the morning grass.
Where the silver ocean waves
slowly splash against time
and suddenly I remember
the feeling of summer.
What reminds you of summer....I would love to know.

Five Months Old...

I can't believe my little sweet Jessica is FIVE months old! The time is going too fast. I am trying to enjoy every moment of every stage and I wish I could just slow life down. We get so caught up in the daily routine and the things around us we forget to stop and enjoy what we really have in life. So pause for a moment and think about what you have...be grateful...and enjoy it! Jessica is wearing a vintage dress from the early 1970's that belonged to my sister.

My mom and I had a blast going through all the cloths she saved.

Thanks mom. DSC_0009
